Will GTA 6 Have Cheat Codes?

Short answer: almost certainly yes. Long answer involves Red Dead Redemption 2, and it is the reason we are careful about how we phrase every page on this site.

The 25-year pattern

GTA III shipped with a phone-based code system. Vice City expanded it. San Andreas turned it into a 90-entry catalogue. GTA IV kept the phone, GTA V kept the phone and added a second layer of ability cheats. Six mainline entries, six cheat systems, no exceptions.

In GTA V the system is deliberately generous: roughly 30 button codes covering invincibility, weapons, wanted level, vehicle spawns, weather and physics, all entered on the in-game phone keypad or with a controller sequence. Those codes still work in the 2022 re-release, nine years later.

The RDR2 warning

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the counter-example. It launched with a much thinner cheat system — a handful of codes tied to newspaper scraps and a hidden menu — and Rockstar never expanded it. Anyone promising “40 GTA 6 codes” should be read against that fact.

Our working assumption: GTA 6 gets a cheat system similar in size to GTA V, entered the same way, and it will not work in Online. Everything else we mark as unconfirmed.

What we expect to see at launch

• A phone- or menu-based entry screen, because controller sequences are awkward on a modern pad with no d-pad muscle memory.
• 18–35 codes, weighted toward player state, weapons, wanted level and vehicle spawns.
• Trophy and achievement blocking for the session, exactly as in GTA V.
• Zero presence in GTA 6 Online — Rockstar has never allowed it and the ban policy is automatic.

How we will handle launch day

Every page on this site currently says Expected. When a build is in hand — preload datamine first, retail copy second — each entry flips to Confirmed with a timestamp and a note on how it was checked. If a code turns out not to exist, the page says so instead of quietly deleting it, because a “this code is fake” page answers the search just as well as a real one.
