How to enter cheat codes in GTA 6 on PS5

Load a story save, then enter the full button sequence in one go — roughly five seconds, no pauses. Wait for the notification; if it does not appear, the code did not register.

Step by step

  1. Story mode only. Codes never work in Online. Load a save.
  2. Pick a code. Every cheat in the PS5 list has the exact order.
  3. Enter it without pausing. The window is about five seconds from the first button.
  4. Watch for the notification. No notification means no cheat.

The mistakes that break a code

  • L1 vs L2. Bumper above, trigger below. Swapping them fails silently.
  • Pausing. Checking your phone mid-sequence resets the timer.
  • Holding instead of tapping. Every input is a tap; holds do not count.
  • Being in a menu. Close the pause menu and the phone first.

PS5 entry — quick answers

Do you need the in-game phone to enter codes on PS5?

In GTA V, some codes were dialled as phone numbers and some were controller sequences. GTA 6 is expected to keep a single entry method — most likely the phone or a dedicated menu. The sequence itself is the same either way.

Why does the last button keep failing?

Almost always a trigger/bumper mix-up: L1 is the bumper above the trigger, L2 is the deep trigger. The other common cause is pressing a face button too softly on a worn DualSense — the code needs a clean, full press.

Can I pause halfway through and finish?

No. The input window resets after about five seconds of inactivity, and there is no error message. If you pause, start the whole sequence again.
